Code of Conduct The Curtis Summerfest community is committed to maintaining the safe, encouraging, and respectful atmosphere owed to everyone involved. For this reason all participants will be asked to agree to the following:

• Abide by the rules and regulations of the program as explained to me by the program supervisors.
• Attend program activities as required.
• Treat each person in the program with respect and courtesy. Abusive language is strictly forbidden. Bullying, hazing, threatening behavior, and harassing conduct are also strictly forbidden.
• Respect Curtis property and act responsibly on campus. Each participant is responsible for any damage they may cause to any property of the Institute.
• Understand that sexual activity amongst minors or on Curtis property is absolutely forbidden and will not be tolerated.
• Understand that the possession, use, consumption, or sale of any drug (including cigarettes and alcohol, but not including prescribed medication if used as prescribed) is strictly prohibited and a criminal act under United States law.
• Understand the possession, use, handling, or sale of any type of weapon is strictly prohibited. Understand that one must immediately notify Summerfest staff or security liaison should one become aware of another participant having possession of a weapon.

• Lenfest Hall is a no-smoking, drug- and alcohol-free building.
• The possession, use, and/or distribution of any drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited.

  • No guests are allowed in Lenfest Hall. Family members are only allowed in Lenfest Hall during check-in and check-out, and for performances.
  • All suites are same-sex suites; members of the opposite sex are not allowed at any time. Married adults may request their own accommodations.

• In compliance with applicable laws, smoking inside Curtis (all buildings), the bridges between its buildings, Lenfest Hall terrace, fire stairs, and near emergency exits is strictly prohibited. Smoking also is strictly prohibited outdoors within twenty (20) feet of any entrance or exit of any Curtis buildings, out of consideration for the health of Curtis students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This includes the entrances to 1718, 1720, and 1726 Locust Street, Lenfest Hall, Rubenstein Centre, as well as the handicapped-accessible entrance to Field Concert Hall and all emergency exits.
• Any student who is violating this policy will be informed that smoking is prohibited by law in those areas (referred to as the no-smoking areas) and will be requested to immediately refrain from smoking or leave the no-smoking areas. Applicable law provides for reporting to appropriate authorities if a person does not comply with a request to immediately refrain from smoking or leave the no-smoking areas. Any student engaged in smoking in any building or facility of Curtis, or other no-smoking areas, will be subject to disciplinary action under the Student Code of Conduct. The word “smoking” includes inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying any lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, or other such device that contains tobacco or other smoke-producing products including “e-cigarettes”.
